The award’s managing Vinum Praemium Foundation’s goals are the ensuring the future of Hungarian winemakers by “Future Winemaker Scholarship Program” and to take care of the Hungarian wine culture as well.

THE TOP FIVE HUNGARIAN WINEMAKERS HAVE BEEN SELECTED!
The five best Hungarian winemakers were chosen. The second round of voting is currently taking place as a result, on 29th April, it will be revealed who will be the 16th Winemaker of the Winemakers the following five finalists:
This year's voting mechanism of the Winemaker of the Winemakers started with the Tasting Circle held at the Hungarian Academy of Sciences on 4th March .
Following the traditions, the fifty best Hungarian winemakers gathered at that time, who were nominated for the Winemakers' Award by the winners of recent years.
This event was not only a tasting of an extremely high standard and atmosphere held in a historic setting, but was also held here the fifty shall have their first round votes. So now this year's election has reached the most exciting stage, we will soon find out who will be the 16th Winemaker of Winemakers!

ABOUT THE AWARD
The award was established by Pál Rókusfalvy for the winemakers of the Carpathian Basin. This award is different from any other because here no organizations but the winemakers themselves have the right to decide, they have the right to choose the best one, the Winemaker of the Winemakers by their single vote. This award has its prestige because of its electing mechanism. With this award do not goes any additional financial treat.
In 2009 the founder of this award has established the Vinum Praemium Foundation to ensure the legal and proper work of the award.
WINEMAKER OF THE WINEMAKERS AWARD
The Winemaker of the Winemakers can be that person who (produce the highest quality wines and) is nominated for the best 50 by the winners of the previous years. These 50 nominees have voting right only. The winner is elected by simple, but two round electing. After the first round the 50 nominees is voting again to choose the winner from the best five.
In case of equality the oldest person of the previous year’s winners has the right to decide.
FRIEND OF THE WINEMAKERS AWARD
This award was established in 2012 for those civilian personalities who by his work and goals prominently stand for the goals of Hungarian wine and help the work of the Hungarian winemakers.
The previous winners of the Winemaker of the Winemakers Award have the right to nominate 1 person and the 50 nominees of the Winemaker of the Winemakers Award may elect the winner by their single vote.
